Crashbox! Materials from route construction and inspection in climbing gyms under stress test

In a live demonstration with tearing tests on the ‘Crashbox’, the PETZL Technical Institute will shed light on typical questions relating to route construction and operational inspection in artificial climbing facilities.

Following the specified tests, there will be an opportunity to test the residual strength of material brought along - provided it can be installed in the ‘crash box’. Please contact us in advance so that we can carry out tests efficiently with the materials you have brought with you.

Most materials used as PPE or safety infrastructure in artificial climbing facilities are designed with a high minimum breaking strength and safety reserves.
But how do external influences such as abrasion on rough surfaces (wall, volume, holds) or edges or other mechanical or chemical damage that can occur in everyday life in artificial climbing facilities affect the strength?

In a live demonstration with tearing tests on the ‘Crashbox’, the PETZL Technical Institute will shed light on typical questions relating to route construction and operational inspection in artificial climbing facilities.

Do you have old, used or extremely (over)loaded PPE, such as slings on a weathered outer wall?
Following the specified tests, it is possible to check the residual strength of the material you have brought with you - provided it can be installed in the ‘crash box’. Please contact us in advance so that we can carry out tests efficiently with the materials you bring with you.
