How to spot counterfeit and damaged equipment in good time
As a certified inspector of personal protective equipment (PPE) against falls from a height, I am seeing this more and more frequently: during routine inspections of tree climbers, industrial climbers and work at height, I am increasingly uncovering counterfeit products that do not meet either CE or EN standards, or severely damaged equipment. This is often because products are sold via online platforms that offer these substandard or non-CE-compliant items, and users looking for the lowest possible prices are drawn to precisely these cheap deals.
