The presentation examines the shift from established materials such as GRP, PE and PU towards modern thermoplastic materials for use in climbing. In addition to the advantages in terms of recyclability, service life, availability and cost, the results of abrasion and stress tests will be presented. These demonstrate that thermoplastics represent a high-performance and sustainable alternative and have the potential to significantly shape the future of climbing holds and climbing structures.
