Do women and FLINTA people need their own SKT courses – or is this actually about something entirely different? This talk explores why professional rope climbing requires far more than just physical strength, and how the learning environment, trust and a culture of learning from mistakes influence the development of skills.

Drawing on experiences from specialised SKT courses, the talk explores role models, pressure to perform, technical competence and the question of how learning environments must be designed to enable people to realise their potential. The requirements, examinations and safety standards remain unchanged.
