For the ‘47 Summits’ project, Ulla Lohmann wants to make a summit trip through the 47 countries of Europe to climb the highest mountain in each European country. The goal is to climb the summit from the last point of civilisation under her own steam without technical aids. The mountains are to be conquered by climbing, touring skis, ice axes or hiking. That was the idea – but life had other plans: pregnancy!
Nevertheless, Ulla continues her expeditions without compromise, now together with her husband and child. Manuk is now 7 years old, has been to 51 countries and has never been ill. He is named after an active volcano, because volcanoes are Ulla Lohmann's speciality. Manuk experienced his first volcanic eruption at 6 months old in Indonesia, when Ulla was allowed to spend a month alone with him photographing for the renowned GEO magazine.
The lecture is an inspiration for all girls who want to aim high and dare to be like Pippi Longstocking: ‘Be cheeky, wild and wonderful!’
